I am the vine; you are the branches.
If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
— John 15:5

Jesus is the true vine, God is the gardener, and we are the branches. It is through ongoing relationship in Jesus, and by God’s Spirit, that we are given the sustenance to produce the life God desires of us, a life that bears fruit.

Apart from Jesus we can do nothing. We find our way in following his lead, and his is the narrow path we walk. We derive our truth from his Word, and his is the voice to which we are attuned. We find life in his love expressed upon the cross, and we share that love with others.

We are not a building, a program, a brand, a denomination, or an event. We are a people, the church, rooted in Jesus Christ, picking up our cross and walking after him daily.

[John 15:1-17; John 14:16; Matthew 7:13-14; John 10:27; Colossians 1:19-20; 2 Corinthians 5:20-21; Luke 9:23]

Our mission is to be and make disciples of Jesus who love God, each other, and our neighbors, as branches in God’s growing kingdom.

We gather because the first Christians, and Christians of the last 2000 years, have gathered in homes and meeting spaces for prayer, teaching, worship and fellowship.

We gather regularly because we experience continual encouragement in Christ from our meetings together.

We gather physically in the same space because we believe place and presence are important. God chooses to dwell in his people through the presence of his Spirit, and we choose to be present with one another as his family in common meeting spaces.

[Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:25; 1 Corinthians 3:16]

Christ laid down all of his life for us, and we respond by giving back to him.

Money and material possessions are not our god; they are temporary fixtures in this life. Jesus invites us to trade these earthly resources for heavenly treasure, so we choose to sow generously toward God’s plans in this world, and reap generously the blessing of his rewards as we watch his ministry expand in our lives, neighborhoods, and city.

As the family of God, we also regularly share our abundance with those who in need. We are not possessive of what God has given us, but generous toward God and toward one another as we learn to have “all things in common.”

[Romans 12:1; Matthew 6:24; Matthew 6:19-21; 2 Corinthians 9:6; Acts 4:32]
